Is it a bird? Is it a plane?… Or a helicopter? Or both?! Technically at this stage it is neither – it’s a concept. But here is how it is proposed to work: Using three ducted fans, the TriFan 600 lifts off vertically, in a similar manner to a helicopter. But after takeoff, the craft’s wing fans rotate forward, allowing it to then fly like a plane. The process reverses on landing. This new and unusual hybrid of helicopter and plane motion technology allows the craft to take off and land without the need for runways or open space.
